Gennazano FCJ College Teachers (Education) – The college wanted an effective stress management strategy for their dedicated teachers and staff. A weekly class enabled teachers to wind down and de-stress, especially around intense periods of work including exams and report writing times. Classes were so successful, teachers arranged additional classes for year ten and twelve students, which have been an ongoing success.
Gennazano FCJ College Students (Education) – Following on the popularity of yoga at the school, co-ordinators of Year 10 students wanted to expose the girls of this prominent girls school to the experience of yoga. Replacing their weekly physical education class for part of a term each year, students were able to experience what yoga has to offer for teenagers. Classes are interactive with specific focus on physical posture, relaxation, confidence and self esteem.
Year 12 students were able to attend a weekly meditation class where they were able to de-stress and unwind, as well as learn specific relaxation and meditation techniques to assist with the demands of their final year.
Victorian Aids Council – A regular and supportive class for people managing HIV, Aids and other auto-immune disorders is offered at the Positive Living Centre in Prahran. The classes are gentle and are conducted with respect and consideration for the participants. Any specific concerns that the participants may have can be addressed in this intimate and familiar group environment.
Friends – Kathryn and Gayle have been friends for years. With many things in common including children of a similar age, a shared community and locality, hobbies, and fitness aspirations. Their mutual curiosity for yoga led them to share a small group class, which they now consider a perfect way to relax, unwind and catch up with each other.
