Be fit, healthy and live in balance.

The inner intelligence of your own body constantly strives for a state of equilibrium. Despite the war we rage on ourselves through our diet, our environment, stress, and lack of exercise and sleep sometimes, your body wants to be healthy.

Your own specific yoga practice may be just the thing to help your body re-establish its innate natural state of health and wellbeing. With regular practice, a few minutes of your day can help to alleviate conditions such as back, joint and muscle pain associated with stiffness and inflammation. Yoga can correct postural misalignment, improve your flexibility and strength, reduce stress, renew your spirit and naturally boost your immune system.

During your initial consultation, a health questionnaire is completed and you will be taken through a series of specific and gentle diagnostic movements. Often a session more closely resembles an appointment with a physical therapist or rehabilitation specialist than it does a typical yoga class. What sets this healing modality apart from other's, is the focus on linking movement to deep rhythmical breathing. Another difference is the emphasis on relaxation and breath awareness. In fact, if a student is seriously ill, it may be suggested that the entire practice consist of breath awareness and relaxation until the person is ready to tackle more.

Your teacher will then create a written diagrammatic program for you to do at home on your own.
You will be taken step by step through the program, making sure you are comfortable and confident with what is required. Your teacher will keep a copy of your program so that if you lose your yoga plan, forget what to do, require an adjustment, or simply need a reminder; help is only a phone call away.

A brief follow-up session is recommended within the first fortnight of receiving your new program so that any necessary adjustments can be made to your practice and your teacher can check your technique and answer any questions you may have. This will ensure that you receive the maximum benefits from your program.

Trained in both India and Australia, Yoga Medicine teachers specialise in this classical and therapeutic approach to yoga. They are experienced in combining eastern principles with western practicalities and have a wealth of expertise in tailoring programs for the unique and specific needs of each individual.
