Sustainability Victoria (Government) This city-based eco-friendly company has held regular yoga classes on site for the past six years. Often attracting staff that support sympathetic and sustainable living, it was only natural that the staff adopted this weekly class as a normal part of their week. In recognition and reward for the commitment and dedication of staff to their weekly class, management has recently included the class as part of their Occupational Heath and Safety strategy.

Aroma Science (Wholesale) – Staff of the Australian home of the holistic beauty product Aveda have enjoyed a regular weekly class at their head office for the past four years. With strong links to products embracing and inspired by ancient Indian Ayurvedic traditions, tuition in the complimentry principles of yoga has been embraced and enjoyed by those who attend.

Gennazano FCJ College (Education) – The college wanted an effective stress management strategy for their dedicated teachers and staff. A weekly class enabled teachers to wind down and de-stress, especially around intense periods of work including exams and report writing times. Classes were so successful, teachers arranged additional classes for year ten and twelve students, which have been an ongoing success.

Victorian Teachers Commission (Education) – The manager of this commission wanted her staff to experience the benefits that she had enjoyed from her regular weekly class. She organised and promoted this early morning class for her staff as a way to unite and to motivate them to begin investing in their own health and wellbeing. Many staff began regularly walking in their lunch hour to compliment the classes and some joined their local gym.

Myer (Retail) – This large retail group offered several lunchtime unwind classes for their staff around stocktake time at their head office. Classes were held in their largest auditorium and proved to be so popular, it was standing room only!

Foxtel (Media) – To assist Call Centre staff to manage their stress levels during an intense work schedule resulting from a promotional campaign. Staff were able to drop into a continuous yoga class that ran throughout the day whilst on their break. Realising the benefits many staff attended on more than one occasion.

Sinclair Knight Merz (Engineering) – This corporate engineering firm has conducted regular weekly yoga classes on site for staff for many years. Recognising the mutual benefits of yoga to staff and the organisation, it forms part of their occupational health and safety strategy. In a highly competitive employment market, human resources have also found it beneficial in the attraction and retention of new graduates to the firm. After attending a regular weekly class, participants have had more confidence in their ability to integrate yoga into their daily lives and many of the staff have now progressed to having their own personalised daily practice, which is purposefully designed to compliment their weekly group class.
